
Peter Tower
Peter Tower, built about 1500, is named after the first Metropolitan of Moscow,Peter, who was later canonized. It was frequently destroyed in the courseof its history - in 1612 by the Poles, in the reign of Catherine II inpreparation for the planned rebuilding of the Kremlin, and in 1812 by theFrench - but each time it was rebuilt (the last time - by the architectOsip I.Bove). The height of the toweris 27.15 m (89 ft).
