The Senate (Senatskaya) Tower. Immediately behind the LeninMausoleum is the Senate Tower, built in 1491 by PietroAntonio Solari. It was given its present name after the buildingof the Senate (1776-87), just insidethe walls at this point. The superstructure dates from 1680. The heightof the tower is 34.3 metres (113 ft).
